The friendly city of Niceville is found in northwest Florida between Pensacola and Panama City. Niceville is centrally located in Okaloosa County. Niceville! The name says it all! This is a family-oriented town as is evidenced at any local football event!
 
 
Located on the north shore of Choctawhatchee Bay, major roadways connect Niceville with nearby Destin, Crestview, Freeport, Valparaiso, Shalimar, Fort Walton Beach, Eglin Air Force Base, and Duke Field. Northwest Florida Regional Airport is only minutes away from Niceville, as is Eglin’s East and West gates, and the entrance gate at Duke Field.
 
Everything is easy to find in Niceville as the business district is built around the city’s main thoroughfare, John Sims Parkway (State Road 20). The hotels in Niceville are mainly located directly on, or near John Sims Parkway.
 
The Niceville area has 15,000 homes and a total population of around 40,000.
 
 
The Mattie Kelly Fine and Performing Arts Center, located at Northwest Florida College is a beautiful auditorium used for local productions as well as a Broadway series each Fall and Winter.
 
In the fall, October brings in the Mullet Festival! This is a huge event that spans over three days. Live music is abundant and you’ll spot at least one Nashville headliner on the stage. Come hungry as there are a variety of foods to be had, not the least of which is expectedly mullet!
 
The white sand beaches, stupendous shopping and remarkable dining that Destin has to offer is only a 20-minute drive via the Mid-Bay Bridge connecting Niceville to Destin.
 
More and more families who come to vacation in Destin are staying in Niceville to save money and take a break from the bumper-to-bumper traffic found on the south side of the Bay.
 
 
There’s plenty to do in the greater Niceville area, too! Visitors may enjoy the Heritage Museum of Northwest Florida, golf, children’s park, spray park, skate park, Turkey Creek Park & Boardwalk, and the picturesque waterfront parks. Outdoor activities, dining in Niceville’s favorite restaurants and browsing in the eclectic shops will provide families hours of entertainment.
