Destin Songwriter Festival 2026: Your Destin Harbor Weekend Guide

September 22, 2026

There’s something special about fall in Destin. The summer crowds begin to ease, the temperatures become more comfortable, and the calendar fills with events that give locals and visitors another reason to spend time along the water.

This October, one of Destin’s newer fall traditions returns to the harbor.

The 2nd Annual Destin Songwriter Festival takes place October 24–25, 2026, bringing Nashville hitmakers, emerging artists and local musicians together for two days of live performances throughout the Destin Harbor.

But this isn’t your typical music festival.

Instead of simply hearing familiar songs performed on stage, the Destin Songwriter Festival gives audiences an opportunity to meet some of the people behind the music and hear the stories, experiences and inspiration that led to the songs in the first place.

What Is the Destin Songwriter Festival?

Songwriter festivals offer a different experience from traditional concerts because the focus is as much on the story behind the song as the performance itself.

One of the festival’s signature formats is the songwriter round, a Nashville-style performance in which several songwriters take turns performing and talking about their music. Some have written songs recorded by major artists, while others are emerging performers audiences may be hearing for the first time.

Throughout the weekend, performances will take place at multiple venues along the Destin Harbor, ranging from intimate acoustic sets to larger Main Stage concerts.

It’s an experience that feels particularly well suited to Destin: relaxed, waterfront and centered around good music and good stories.

Who Is Performing in 2026?

The 2026 lineup includes an impressive mix of established Nashville songwriters and rising talent.

Among this year’s announced headliners is Jeffrey Steele, a Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame member whose extensive songwriting catalog includes hits recorded by artists such as Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, Eric Church and Zac Brown Band.

Carolyn Dawn Johnson is also scheduled to perform. In addition to her career as a recording artist, Johnson wrote the No. 1 country hit “Single White Female,” and her songs have been recorded by artists including Chris Stapleton, Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton.

The lineup also includes Bridgette Tatum, co-writer of Jason Aldean’s “She’s Country,” and Terri Jo Box, whose songs have been recorded by artists including Ashley McBryde, Lainey Wilson, Miranda Lambert, Eric Church and Cody Johnson.

Additional artists announced for the 2026 festival include Bryce Leatherwood, Jamie Floyd, Jessie G, Reed Foley, Kelli Johnson and Matt Wynn, with more performers expected to be part of the weekend.

Where Does the Festival Take Place?

Rather than being contained within one festival ground, the event spreads across Destin Harbor, allowing festivalgoers to move between different venues and styles of performances.

The Main Stage will be located in front of SkyBar at The Edge and will feature larger-scale concert production and headlining performances. The Main Stage requires a ticket.

Other participating harbor venues will host smaller songwriter rounds and acoustic performances. Several side stages, including performances at SkyBar and The Boathouse Oyster Bar, are free to attend. Most side stages are family-friendly, although individual venue age restrictions may apply.

There will also be a ticketed Sunday-night VIP experience at The Alice featuring festival headliners and emerging “Next of Nashville” artists in a more intimate setting.

More Than a Weekend of Music

The festival also has a charitable component.

A portion of festival proceeds will benefit Operation Song, a nonprofit organization that works with veterans, active-duty military members and their families through songwriting and storytelling programs.

It adds another dimension to a weekend already centered around the idea that songs can tell stories, preserve experiences and create connections between people.

Planning Your Festival Weekend

If you’re planning to attend, there are a few things worth knowing ahead of time.

The festival is scheduled to take place rain or shine, barring unsafe severe weather. Food and beverages will be available from vendors and participating harbor restaurants, and guests attending the Main Stage are encouraged to bring folding chairs because seating is first come, first served. Public and paid parking are available around the harbor, although organizers recommend arriving early or considering rideshare transportation during peak festival hours.

Because performances are spread throughout the harbor, it’s also worth checking the official festival schedule as the weekend approaches and planning which artists and venues you most want to experience.

Fall Is a Great Time to Experience Destin

The Destin Songwriter Festival highlights something we love about living on the Emerald Coast: the lifestyle here extends well beyond a day at the beach.

Destin’s harbor, restaurants, boating culture, local businesses, festivals and community events create a sense of place that changes throughout the year. Fall brings its own personality, with beautiful weather and a full calendar of events that make October an especially enjoyable time to be on the coast.

The Destin Songwriter Festival is quickly becoming part of that fall calendar.

Whether you come to hear a songwriter behind a song you already know, discover an artist you’ve never heard before, or simply spend an October weekend enjoying live music along the harbor, October 24–25 is a weekend worth adding to your Destin calendar.

And for us, events like this are another reminder that what makes Destin special isn’t simply where we live — it’s everything there is to experience once you’re here.
